About Idaho Falls Sandpiper Restaurant
Ron Obendorf came to Idaho Falls from Boise, Idaho in 1972, and he was instrumental in building and opening the Sandpiper in 1974. Ron even designed and installed all the landscaping and the original deck that overlooks the Snake River. In the 40 years since opening, the deck has evolved into a large patio with fireplaces, and it makes a spectacular place to relax, dine and enjoy the view.
Idaho Falls is home to the Idaho National Laboratory and a bevy of supporting high-tech businesses, as well as being the home of Melaleuca, Eastern Idaho Technical College, and satellite locations for University of Idaho and Idaho Statue University. Our proximity to Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, Island Park, West Yellowstone and Yellowstone National Park makes Idaho Falls a hub for tourism.
